Police Investigate Murder Scene for 8 Hours Until They Realize It’s a Movie Set
Responding to a fire at the George Washington Hotel in Pittsburgh, firefighters discovered what Police Chief J.R. Blyth described as the most grisly murder scene in his 35 years in law enforcement. After eight hours of detective investigation, however, the murder scene turned out to be a set from a movie scene shot over two years prior.
Yes, it took detectives eight hours to figure out that the murder scene, which included blood splatter, empty bottles of alcohol, and a piece of a scalp, was nothing more than a movie set for the film, New Terminal Hotel, which included actor Corey Haim in the cast.
The owner of the hotel, Kyrk Pyros, claims he didn’t clean out the hotel room after the movie finished shooting in case the crew decided they had to revisit the scene for reshoots. Pyros humorously described the room with the leftover set as the hotel’s “scare room.”
Luckily, no one was seriously hurt by the fire that caused the firefighters to discover the “scare room.”
